Roy Acuff and Fred RoseRoy Acuff and Fred Rose established a publishing house for music in Nashville. They protected the rights of the musicians and songwriters for sheet music and recordings. Audrey Williams pushed Hank Williams to go to Nashville to meet Roy Acuff and Fred Rose in order to get Hank's carreer off the ground. One of the myths is that Fred Rose couldn't beleive Hank Williams had written the song he played and ordered him to compose another one on the spot. Fact is that they entered the WSM-building on 14 September 1946. Hank Williams got his contract and earned 3 cent for sheet music and 50 percent of royalties for use of songs by the record companies. They also introduced him to MGM, the record company. |
